Housing

Housing is the first stability problem. Without a verified address you cannot enroll in benefits, complete job applications, or meet supervision requirements. Everything else in reentry depends on having somewhere consistent to sleep and a mailing address systems will accept.

Most people leaving incarceration overestimate what is available and underestimate what is required. Programs have waiting lists. Private landlords run background checks. Sober living houses have rules that end your placement if violated. Knowing what each option actually requires before you pursue it prevents wasted time and failed applications.
