American Job Centers, reentry employment nonprofits, transitional employment programs, and WIOA-funded workforce organizations across the US — focused on programs that specifically serve people with criminal records. Each state lists the primary government workforce access point plus the most reentry-focused employment nonprofit in the area. Updated April 2026. How American Job Centers work: Every state has a network of American Job Centers (also called WorkSource, CareerForce, IowaWORKS, etc. by state). These are federally funded through WIOA and provide free job search help, resume assistance, and training funding. Most will work with returning citizens — the key is asking specifically about reentry services and WIOA Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) which can fund trade school, CDL training, or other certifications at no cost to you.
